The opportunity

We aim to be the best retail protection provider in the UK, offering a great experience for our advisers, customers, and staff. We have an exciting opportunity for a Retail Protection Product Consultant to join our team. You’ll help design, implement, and manage Zurich’s protection products that our customers need to secure their financial futures.

This role lets you support every stage of delivering our protection product development plan. You’ll work in multi‑functional teams to balance speed to market, project costs, regulatory compliance, and shareholder return. You’ll make sure all proposition developments are designed and implemented with good customer outcomes as the main focus.

We are looking for someone who puts customers first and knows the UK financial services market well. Ideally, you have experience in retail protection. You should be eager to learn and understand the entire customer journey to make sure our protection plans always deliver good results for customers.

Many of our employees work flexibly in a variety of different ways, including part‑time, flexible hours, job share, an element of working from home or compressed hours. This is because we want the best people for our roles, and we recognise that sometimes those people aren’t available full‑time. Please talk to us at interview about the flexibility you may need.

What will you be doing?

You’ll work with colleagues from Proposition Development and other functional areas to define requirements and work with our third‑party software partners to implement and maintain new and existing propositions on our Life Protection Platform.

  • Assist proposition colleagues to analyse the protection market, competitors and customer needs to identify gaps and opportunities where Zurich could create commercial advantage.
  • Assist in completing feasibility assessment of new product ideas, build business cases, and recommend whether to proceed, including data analysis to support such assessments.
  • Support proposition‑led projects to refresh, upgrade, or create new protection propositions.
  • Collaborate with experts from all areas of the business to ensure changes meet customer needs, offering personalisation and flexibility efficiently and cost‑effectively.
  • Identify, monitor, and mitigate delivery and regulatory risks before launch. Follow product development and risk & compliance procedures.
  • Help develop and maintain our propositions on industry quote portals and best advice systems.
  • Understand regulatory changes and their impact on the protection market. Work with proposition colleagues and other subject‑matter experts to assess what changes are needed to stay compliant, supporting their definition and ultimate implementation.
  • Desire to become a retail protection expert able to support and help other areas as required.
  • Develop and maintain a network of experts in all relevant areas.

What are we looking for?

  • Someone towards the start of their career who is keen to learn and carve out a career in UK Life Financial Services.
  • A desire to become a subject‑matter expert in the UK Life and Retail Protection market.
  • A passion for being part of our journey to protect customers’ financial futures.
  • Some experience in working in successful teams.
  • Effective communication skills tailored to each situation, ensuring all stakeholders can contribute and feel listened to.
  • A self‑starter with a growth mindset, comfortable thinking creatively to overcome project delivery obstacles and challenges to meet customer and business needs.
  • Comfortable using data, research, and customer and adviser feedback to deliver business results.
  • A strength in logical thinking and problem solving.
  • Comfortable consistently applying attention to detail.
  • Take action to manage your personal development. Specifically, you will be committed to developing your protection subject‑matter expertise and LPP systems understanding to provide technical advice and guidance across the business, ultimately becoming a SME for LPP systems.

As an inclusive employer we want to ensure that all candidates feel comfortable and are able to perform at their best during the interview. You’ll have the opportunity to let us know of any reasonable adjustment or practical support needed when you apply.

What will you get in return?
