Overview
We are looking for a Licensing Officer (Level 2) to join our Licensing Unit, which oversees everything from taxis and private hire vehicles to pubs, clubs, restaurants, street trading and special events. The role involves diagnosing compliance issues, managing investigations and ensuring licensees fulfil their legal obligations.
Responsibilities
- Assess licence applications and advise applicants on necessary changes.
- Attend and present at licensing hearings.
- Enforce licence conditions and, when required, initiate legal action.
- Collaborate with partner agencies to address licensing concerns.
- Provide specialist guidance and training to licensees and internal stakeholders.
Qualifications & Experience
- Professional Licensing Practitioners’ Qualification (or willingness to complete).
- Detailed knowledge of the legislative and regulatory framework of a licensing authority.
- Experience in licensing or a comparable regulatory role, including enforcement activity.
- Effective planning, analytical and investigative skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to work a minimum of 20 night shifts per year, including weekends.
- Experience conducting PACE interviews, delivering training, or preparing reports for Licensing Sub‑Committees is beneficial.
