Senior Engineer

Overview

This role focuses on leading technical delivery, supporting project performance and ensuring designs meet client expectations and regulatory requirements, including CDM and Kier standards. You will be a Senior Engineer supporting the delivery of schemes within the Kier Design team and helping secure a steady workload in a Top 30 Glassdoor‑rated main contractor.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage design delivery, ensuring solutions are safe, practical and meet client requirements.
• Review and challenge technical briefs to ensure clarity and quality outcomes.
• Support fee proposals and contribute to project planning and delivery.
• Oversee and support engineers within the design team on a day‑to‑day basis.
• Monitor project progress, budgets and programme performance.
• Deliver value‑engineering and innovative solutions to improve project outcomes.
• Ensure compliance with standards, legislation and Kier procedures (CDM, SHEMS, QMS).
• Manage and coordinate design team workload and outputs.

Qualifications

• Civil engineer with experience in river engineering or hydraulic structures.
• Chartered or Incorporated (e.g., CEng, MICE) or working towards it.
• Confident in leading design delivery and coordinating multidisciplinary teams.
• Comfortable managing technical risk and making sound engineering decisions.
• Strong technical judgement and ability to manage uncertainty.
• Experience delivering design across multidisciplinary teams.
• Full UK driving licence.
