Overview

The Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother Hospital is a busy district general hospital in Kent with approximately 3,000 deliveries per year. It hosts medical students from major UK medical schools and serves a local population of around 700,000.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver 10 Programmed Activities per week, including 8 direct clinical care and 2 supporting professional activities.
  • Provide on‑call coverage—Friday on‑call every fourth week (Category A 8%) and weekend shifts 1:7 (Category A 5%).
  • Lead antenatal clinics, gynaecological clinics, operating lists and triage coverage.
  • Coordinate timetabled theatre sessions for planned caesarean birth lists.
  • Participate in audit, incident reporting and risk management activities.
  • Undergo routine appraisal and professional development activities.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Proven track record in high‑risk obstetrics and high‑risk caesarean sections.
  • Minimum English Level 2 (GCSE grade C or equivalent), IELTS or UK medical school graduate.
  • Full GMC registration, CCT or equivalent in obstetrics and gynaecology.
  • ATSM advanced labour ward practice; further ATSM in either obstetrics or gynaecology.
  • MRCOG Part 2/3 qualification.
  • Experience in audit processes.
  • Understanding of clinical incident reporting and risk management.
  • Evidence of participation in annual appraisal.
