Job Description:

Responsibilities

  • Report to the Associate Director or Project/Business Director.
  • Manage the Electrical and Mechanical engineers within the Project Team, with technical support from the Electrical Associate Director or Project/Business Director.
  • Prove ability to manage multiple projects and organise oneself to meet all assigned deadlines.
  • Perform full detailed mechanical design, leading projects or working independently.
  • Conduct calculation works to prove design for domestics, ventilation, heating and cooling systems.
  • Coordinate design with electrical design members and review the overall MEP design for completeness against project brief.
  • Attend design team meetings, reporting progress and actions to the wider design team.
  • Communicate clearly with clients and project teams.
  • Manage internal design programme against client target dates to ensure timely issue of information and project financial performance.
  • Constantly seek ways of improving the efficiency of the work and the team.
  • Continuously adopt the most up‑to‑date practices and innovate their application.
  • Assist sustainability engineers with modelling input data and criteria, and review completed reports issued by the department for correctness.
  • Promote teamwork and consultation with colleagues.
  • Contribute to the development of junior/intermediate team members.
  • Actively participate in the design verification process within the team and be responsible for checking and sign‑off of junior/intermediate engineers’ design.
  • Ensure client satisfaction with performance and quality of service, addressing concerns promptly and courteously.
  • Maintain good working relationships and assess current and future client needs.
  • Seek opportunities for appointments to gain new, repeat and profitable business.
  • Be fully conversant with current building regulations, CIBSE documentation, British standards, BISREA documentation and all other general design guides associated with the building services industry.
  • Be IT literate, with a working knowledge of office software, AutoCAD, and Hevacomp.

Qualifications

  • Registered as a minimum Member of CIBSE or working towards accreditation.
  • Minimum 6‑7 years of experience in the associated specialism.
