Grinding Machine Operator

We are looking for a skilled or semi-skilled Grinding Machine Operator to join one of our client’s manufacturing team in Corby. This role involves setting up and operating manual surface grinding machines, including Jones & Shipman and similar equipment, to produce high‑quality, precision components. This is a great opportunity for someone with machining experience who is looking to develop their skills further within a hands‑on manufacturing environment. Full training can be provided for the right candidate.

Pay: £14.50 – £16.50 per hour

Shifts: Monday – Thursday 8 – 5, Friday 8am – 1pm

Key Responsibilities

• Set up and operate manual surface grinding machines (Jones & Shipman or similar)
• Produce precision components to tight tolerances and specifications
• Read and follow basic engineering instructions and job requirements
• Carry out in‑process and final quality checks using measuring tools
• Ensure machines are operated safely and efficiently at all times
• Maintain a clean and organised working environment in line with health and safety standards
• Report any machine faults, defects, or production issues
• Support general workshop and production activities as required

Requirements

• Previous experience operating surface grinding machines (Jones & Shipman or similar)
• Good attention to detail and commitment to producing high‑quality work
• Ability to follow instructions and work to specifications
• Willingness to learn and develop machining skills further
• Ability to work effectively in a manufacturing environment
