Campus Support Technician – SAE Creative Media Institute, Liverpool

Contract: Hourly Paid

Salary: £12.73 per hour

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support and guidance to students in the use of resources and equipment during practical sessions, helping them maximize learning.
  • Assist the Campus Manager in maintaining the campus estates and facilities, supporting Health and Safety and offering excellent technical service to students and colleagues.
  • Deliver front‑line technical support and advice to students across a range of academic disciplines.
  • Ensure classrooms and studios are prepared for lessons, maintained, and kept clean and professional.
  • Oversee and facilitate student‑directed study in timetabled sessions.
  • Support open events, trips and showcases, including configuring, transporting and setting up equipment.
  • Deliver demonstrations, tutorials and practical assessments, troubleshooting and resolving issues.
  • Work cooperatively and flexibly with the team, contributing to all courses and events.
  • Ensure appropriate student behaviour and studio usage on campus during practical sessions.
  • Participate in team meetings and share feedback on student progress.
  • Facilitate student studio bookings, collection and return of equipment, and monitor attendance.
  • Keep records of equipment loans and stay updated on new technologies and industry trends.
  • Operate and maintain specialist facilities such as studios, edit suites and technical equipment.
  • Responsible for equipment and resources, report faults immediately.
  • Open and lock up campus and buildings as required.
  • Act as fire marshal and appointed first aider.
  • Assess and monitor Health and Safety issues.
  • Monitor stock levels for consumables and raise orders.
  • Manage and maintain the asset register and databases.
  • Work in accordance with SAE values, policies and procedures.
  • Undertake additional duties as required.
  • Promote safe working practices, team well‑being and professional behaviour.
  • Support periods of absence, workload peaks and troughs.

Key Performance Indicators

  • Positive feedback from students, staff, visitors and stakeholders on technical support and event delivery.
  • Attendance at all SAE events as required.
  • Familiarity with SAE policies and procedures.
  • Accurate and timely record keeping.
  • Feedback from colleagues on flexibility and supportiveness.
  • Maintaining a safe, professional, clean and productive work environment.
  • Professional representation of campus improving image and reputation.
  • Completion of duties on time as directed.

Essential Requirements

  • Good degree in a related field.
  • Knowledge of and industry experience in a related discipline.
  • Technical ability or willingness to learn hardware/software associated with the programmes.
  • Flexible and adaptable approach to work, able to prioritise, organise and manage workloads to meet deadlines.
  • Right to work in the UK and live within commutable distance to Liverpool.
  • Availability for evenings and weekends when required.
  • Preferable audio engineering or film production experience.

Desirable Requirements

  • Technical ability or willingness to learn hardware/software associated with the range of degree programmes.
  • Experience teaching or training practical skills in related areas.
  • Passion for creative media.
  • Experience in Project Based Learning, Flipped Classroom and other contemporary forms of facilitation.
  • Experience using technology in learning, including Virtual Learning Environments.
