Company: Arup
Apply for the Bridge/ Civil Structures Engineering Technician
Location: Leeds
Job Description:

Arup’s purpose, shared values and collaborative approach have set us apart for over 80 years, guiding how we shape a better world.

Our Bridge and Civil Structures team delivers resilient, safe and innovative infrastructure across a wide range of environments. Working closely with engineers, technicians and specialists, we support projects across heavy civil infrastructure, rail, roads and streets, partnering with both public and private sector clients across the region.

From long‑term resilience programmes to major upgrades and renewals, our teams collaborate across disciplines to develop practical, buildable solutions that improve infrastructure and communities.

The Opportunity

We are seeking an enthusiastic Bridge / Civil Structures Engineering Technician to join our growing team across the North West & Yorkshire.

In this role, you will contribute to a diverse portfolio of infrastructure projects, helping to strengthen and develop our reinforced concrete (RC) detailing capability in the region. You’ll be involved in major programmes such as the Haweswater Aqueduct Resilience Programme, rail route upgrades and renewals, and a wide range of road and street schemes.

You will play a hands‑on role in producing RC detailing, 2D drawings and 3D models across all stages of project delivery — from early concept design through to detailed construction. Working closely with multidisciplinary teams, you will support BIM coordination, contribute to high‑quality deliverables and help ensure outputs meet client and project requirements.

Alongside technical delivery, you will support the development of others, contribute to continuous improvement through Arup’s skills networks, and benefit from ongoing training, guidance and feedback to support your professional growth. At Arup, you belong to an extraordinary collective – in which we encourage individuality to thrive.

Is this role right for you?

We are looking for people who meet the following qualifications and have the following attributes.

We Are Looking For People Who

  • Have a sound technical base in civil engineering, ideally with exposure to bridges and civil structures
  • Have experience in producing and checking RC reinforcement drawings, 2D drawings and 3D models using AutoCAD and/or MicroStation
  • Have an understanding of BIM processes, including coordination across disciplines and information management tools such as ProjectWise
  • Can manage their own workload effectively, meeting deadlines while maintaining accuracy and quality
  • Thrive in collaborative environments and are confident supporting and developing more junior technicians

Unfortunately, we are unable to offer visa sponsorship for this role. Applicants must have the right to work in the UK at the time of application and for the duration of employment. Any offer made will be subject to satisfactory proof of immigration status.
