Lead Rust Software Engineer

Salary: £90,000 – 120,000 per year

Requirements

• We want someone who has excelled at university, with a 1st or 2.1 STEM degree from a top‑ranked university.
• We need extensive industry experience building mission‑critical software products used in live environments.
• We are looking for an individual contributor and software polyglot with recent delivery experience using Rust, ideally across the wider Rust ecosystem.
• We need experience working in one or more start‑ups and delivering successfully in fast‑paced environments.
• We value experience using LLMs for code prototyping.
• We are looking for evidence of leadership qualities through technical leadership, mentoring, motivation, and contributions to company strategy and business.
• We require candidates to be based in London, or able to come to London for quarterly strategy meetings and occasional overseas travel.
• We require full, unrestricted rights to work in the UK, as no sponsorship is available.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with the CTO and software team in a senior software engineer role.
• Act as both a technical lead and an individual contributor.
• Build efficient, optimal code bases using Rust and C/C++.
• Mentor junior team members.
• Project manage fast‑paced delivery work.
• Provide technical strategic insight to the business.
• Use modern ML tools and LLMs for prototyping while understanding the code being written.
• Contribute to company strategy through technical leadership.
