Contract Type: Full‑time, Permanent

Working Hours: 35 hours per week – Monday to Friday 7 am to 8 pm, plus one in three Saturdays 9 am to 5 pm. A sample rota is attached.

Additional Payments: 6.7 % flexibility payment

Pre‑Employment Checks: Enhanced DBS search and police vetting will be required. Candidates may need to undergo additional checks depending on the role.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a uniformed team of officers to provide a highly visible presence in Manchester’s public spaces, particularly Piccadilly Gardens.
  • Engage with the public, partners and other stakeholders to identify, support and, where necessary, enforce against anti‑social behaviour.
  • Develop and deliver training packages for community safety practitioners and new officers.
  • Make timely, evidence‑based decisions and explain the rationale to senior leadership.
  • Support the team’s development through coaching, mentoring and performance management.

Key qualifications and skills

  • Line‑management experience, or demonstrable experience coaching and training ASB practitioners.
  • Knowledge of informal and formal ASB powers to stop anti‑social behaviour and protect the public.
  • Demonstrated ability to build positive working relationships across diverse partnerships.
  • Strong decision‑making skills and ability to explain decisions quickly and clearly.
  • Experience designing and delivering training and development programmes.
  • UK driving licence and willingness to undergo an enhanced DBS check and police vetting.
