Chef – Care Home (West View, Tenterden, Kent)

We are looking for an experienced chef to lead and support the catering services at Shaw Healthcare’s West View care home.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the Home Manager, Nutritional Therapist and staff to deliver high‑quality, fresh, home‑cooked meals daily.
• Develop and prepare meals that meet residents’ dietary needs, cultural preferences and any special requirements.
• Plan and execute menu items for regular dining, celebrations and events.
• Manage inventory, order supplies within budget and work with approved suppliers when the senior cook is unavailable.
• Maintain accurate catering records and ensure compliance with HACCP, COSHH and other health & safety regulations.
• Participate in inspections by Environmental Health, care regulators and local authorities.
• Maintain high standards of hygiene and kitchen safety in line with HACCP, COSHH, Health & Safety and Welfare guidelines.
• Assist in maintaining a safe and healthy working environment and support employee well‑being initiatives.
• Lead and coordinate the catering team, fostering a collaborative and supportive working culture.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a chef in a care home or similar setting.
• Strong knowledge of food safety, HACCP, COSHH and NHS catering standards.
• Excellent organisational and team‑leadership skills.
• Ability to design menus that meet dietary and cultural requirements.
• Good communication skills and a compassionate approach to resident care.
