Operations is the heartbeat of Amazon. As an Area Manager you will ensure your site runs smoothly and meets customer demand. You will lead a team that maintains safety, efficiency, high quality and undertake projects across the network to drive productivity.

Key job responsibilities

  • Create, oversee, and drive a culture of safety and wellbeing.
  • Analyse and implement changes to maintain consistently high quality and productivity.
  • Oversee projects to streamline processes, optimise productivity and improve quality of service for customers.
  • Analyse shift performance against objectives and take actions to improve operational excellence.
  • Collaborate with management-level colleagues to standardise shift practices.

A day in the life

You will work a night shift pattern at one of our sites, ensuring productivity. Your main focus will be owning and driving a culture of safety, upholding quality and shift performance standards, overseeing process improvements in your area, implementing changes and mentoring new managers. You will also handle routine team management and wide‑scale operational contingency tasks.

About the team

Customer Fulfilment (CF) manages more than 1.5 million orders every day and is the foundation of Amazon’s business. CF operates at Fulfilment Centres – the First Mile where packages begin their journey. The team focuses on dynamic inventory and speedy delivery round the clock. Many opportunities exist across physical products, data analysis, and other skills.

Basic Qualifications

  • Experience in people management.
  • Experience communicating clearly and concisely with leadership, stakeholders, and cross‑functional teams.
  • Experience using data to influence business decisions.
  • English‑language communication skills, written and verbal.
  • Bachelor’s degree, or advanced degree, or equivalent experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree, or a Master’s degree and experience working for Amazon or an Amazon subsidiary or affiliate.
  • Knowledge of Six Sigma tools, Lean techniques, PMP or similar standards.
  • Experience in logistics, transportation, supply chain, import/export operations, or data entry/data administration.
  • Experience working with the MS Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) in a professional environment.
