Facilities Technician – Fixed Term until 29/01/2027 – James Gillespie’s Primary School

Salary: £27,257 – £29,850 • Hours: 36 per week

Overview

As a Facilities Technician with the City of Edinburgh Council, you will be part of the Facilities Management team, delivering essential janitorial, maintenance and security services across the council estate to keep properties safe for everyone.

Major Tasks / Job Activities

  • Day‑to‑day FM, janitorial and DIY operations across one or more buildings
  • Small repairs and general maintenance
  • Reactive cleaning and support for moves
  • Basic security functions and grounds maintenance
  • Equipment, furniture and fitting maintenance
  • Building maintenance and services
  • Cleaning / Tidying
  • Grounds maintenance and securing premises and grounds

Requirements

  • Regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007 – candidate must join the PVG Scheme or undergo an update check
  • Overseas Criminal Record Check (for continuous period of 3 months or more outside the UK in last 5 years)
  • Pre‑employment checks (PVG and Overseas Criminal Record check) satisfactory
