We are recruiting for a Lead Maintenance Engineer to join our site in Sittingbourne, Kent.
Mission
Your main responsibilities will be to lead a team of two engineers on shift to ensure the continuous running of the production process by eliminating downtime through a safe and logical approach to fault finding and maintenance of equipment. You and your team will work on various types of equipment, including complex hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical/electronic control systems.
You will be responsible for carrying out a range of planned and reactive engineering activities on site. Working 42 hours per week, the shift pattern is 4 on 4 off covering both days and nights, 6am to 6pm.
Responsibilities
- Lead a shift team of two engineers to maintain continuous production and minimize downtime
- Plan and execute maintenance activities on hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical/electronic systems
- Perform planned and reactive maintenance tasks on site
- Diagnose faults, implement safe, logical fault-finding, and provide recommendations
- Ensure adherence to environmental and health and safety regulatory requirements
- Communicate effectively with maintenance and production teams
Qualifications and Skills
- Electrical and/or mechanical qualifications (time served apprenticeship)
- Experience in a medium/large automated manufacturing operation
- Experience leading an engineering team is preferable but not essential
- Strong understanding of environmental and health and safety issues and regulatory requirements
- Experience in electrical fault finding, defect rectification, and routine maintenance
- Ability to interpret maintenance information and provide accurate plant condition recommendations
- Excellent communication skills with operatives and team leaders from maintenance and production
- PLC and VSD knowledge is advantageous
- Experience in mechanical fitting, hydraulics, and pneumatics
