The Opportunity

HeliosX is looking for an Engineering Facilities Manager to lead the development and delivery of world‑class engineering, facilities and infrastructure operations at our Leamington Spa site. This is an opportunity to drive operational excellence by implementing innovative engineering solutions and the latest automation technologies that increase productivity, reduce operational dependencies and deliver measurable returns on investment.

You’ll take ownership of the UK Engineering, Facilities and Infrastructure function, identifying opportunities to improve processes, optimise performance and create scalable engineering standards that will support future HeliosX site launches globally. From shaping long‑term engineering strategy to ensuring the smooth running of day‑to‑day facilities operations, you’ll play a pivotal role in enabling our continued growth.

What you’ll do

Facility Management

  • Identify, select and manage end‑to‑end service partners, including ongoing contract management and performance reviews.
  • Oversee the installation, maintenance and compliance of fire protection systems.
  • Manage waste and recycling services, ensuring operational efficiency and regulatory compliance.
  • Coordinate the installation, servicing and maintenance of forklift trucks (FLT).
  • Ensure the effective operation and maintenance of refrigeration and freezer infrastructure.
  • Lead the installation, inspection and maintenance of warehouse racking systems.
  • Manage conveyor systems and mechanical handling equipment to maximise operational performance and reliability.
  • Oversee pallet management processes to support efficient warehouse operations.
  • Ensure full compliance with all relevant health, safety and engineering legislation, maintaining accurate documentation and records.
  • Manage contractors and third‑party suppliers, ensuring safe working practices and high‑quality service delivery.

Security

  • Select and appoint contractors, negotiating commercial terms to ensure value, quality and service excellence.
  • Ensure overage and protection levels across the site during operational hours and out of hours.
  • Oversee site access control systems and procedures, ensuring security, compliance and operational effectiveness.
  • Embed a culture of innovation with engineering at its heart looking to leverage new technology into new ways of working. Unlocking labour savings as we scale.
  • Mechanical handling solutions, box to person, pick by light, voice, automated guided vehicles – looking to increase accuracy and operational costs.
  • Automation opportunities around unloading, picking, packing, lab activities, counting, sealing, despatch and loading within the operation.
  • Constantly exploring and presenting future capabilities that could be incorporated into the group’s operations.
  • Project scoping, planning and deployment.

What you’ll bring to HeliosX

Experience

  • At least 10 years of expertise across engineering operations.
  • At least 5 years experience in a similar senior role or equivalent.
  • Experience of unlocking cost and/or capabilities to the business via the use of engineering solutions.
  • Track record of delivering substantial changes projects/programmes across multiple locations/territories.
  • Start‑up/scale‑up experience, demonstrating working in high‑growth operations with both scale and complexity.
  • Rigorous attention to detail including proven ability to manage multiple, competing priorities simultaneously.
  • Proven ability to work independently with a high degree of accountability, while also being able to collaborate cross‑functionally.
  • A leader of programmes and critical thinker with an eye for continuous improvement.

Skills

  • Minimum of a bona fide engineering degree or equivalent demonstrable experience.
  • Ability to effectively present information to senior leadership.
  • Working knowledge of multiple building management systems.
  • Data driven with the ability to master complex business problems.
  • Excellent communication skills across various stakeholder management.
