Role And Responsibilities

  • Deliver one‑to‑one and small group support, both in and out of the classroom, working closely with teaching and learning support colleagues
  • Support students in line with their individual needs and/or Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs)
  • Assist students to fully participate in learning activities on an equal basis with their peers
  • Support teaching staff in maintaining a positive, inclusive, and productive learning environment
  • Assist with student‑related administration, including updating individual learning support plans
  • Ensure support provided is effective in meeting student needs and contributes to positive outcomes and progression
  • Contribute to the development of the Learning Support team by attending meetings and training
  • Safeguard and promote the welfare of young people and vulnerable adults
  • Support students in the use of SEN specialist equipment where required
  • Maintain accurate records and complete administrative tasks relating to students with additional support needs

Skills And Experience

  • Experience of working with young people in an education or support setting (or the potential to develop into the role)
  • Experience supporting individuals to achieve their goals
  • Strong organisational and communication skills
  • Ability to build positive working relationships with students and staff
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications

Qualifications

  • Minimum of GCSE Grade 4/C in English and Maths (or equivalent)

Desirable

  • Level 2 NVQ in Supporting Teaching and Learning (or equivalent)
  • Experience supporting students with SEND
  • Understanding of safeguarding and professional boundaries
