Overview
Saltire Facilities Management is one of the UK’s leading heating, electrical, and renewable energy contractors, delivering installation, servicing, and maintenance solutions across the social housing sector. Due to continued contract growth, we are looking for experienced Gas Installation Engineers to join our expanding team across Bristol, Yeovil, and Swindon. This is a permanent role offering year‑round, guaranteed work on long‑term social housing contracts, providing job security, consistent workloads, and excellent opportunities for career progression and renewable energy training.
Responsibilities
As a Gas Installation Engineer, you will be responsible for carrying out a variety of domestic heating installations within occupied and void social housing properties.
Typical duties include:
- Boiler replacements and upgrades
- Full central heating system installations
- Heating conversions
- Radiator and pipework installations
- Hot water cylinder replacements
- System flushing and commissioning
- Fault identification and remedial installation works
- Completion of compliance certification and installation paperwork
- Delivering excellent customer service within residents’ homes
- Ensuring all works are completed safely and in line with current regulations
The majority of work consists of pre‑planned installations with materials delivered directly to the site and appointments scheduled in advance. For larger installations and heating system replacements, additional labour support is provided where required.
Qualifications
Essential
- ACS qualifications including CCN1, CENWAT, HTR1 and CKR1
- Proven experience carrying out domestic gas installations
- Experience completing boiler swaps and full heating system installations
- Strong technical and fault‑finding skills
- Full UK Driving Licence
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively
Desirable
- NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Plumbing & Heating
- Unvented Hot Water (G3) qualification
- Experience working within social housing environments
- LPG qualifications
- Renewable heating experience
