Pollution Control Manager
Salary: Grade 9 – £47,181 to £50,269 per year
Hours: 37 hours per week

Overview
The Regulation Unit is looking for an enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and experienced person with a background in Pollution Control to manage our dedicated Pollution Control Team. Amber Valley has a mix of communities in and around our four major towns and numerous villages, each with their individual challenges. Significant areas of the borough are rural with the Derbyshire Dales to the north and the two cities of Derby and Nottingham within easy reach, offering a varied environment for those who enjoy variety.
Like the borough, our pollution control workload is diverse and involves working with a range of individuals and businesses to deliver the best possible outcomes for our residents and communities. We have a small, dedicated team that works independently and with others to ensure our communities are protected from the negative impacts of pollution.
Key Responsibilities
- Investigate complaints of statutory nuisance, respond to planning consultations, regulate Part A2 and B permitted processes, monitor air quality.
- Oversee the contaminated land regime under Part II A of the Environmental Protection Act 1990 and receive licence applications to comment on.
- Address pest infestations, drainage problems, and accumulations of waste on land.
- Provide technical guidance and support to team members.
- Prioritise work and manage time effectively.
- Communicate diplomatically with a wide range of service users and stakeholders.

- Background in Pollution Control with relevant experience.
- Strong technical knowledge to advise team members.
- Excellent time‑management and prioritisation skills.
- People skills with the ability to communicate diplomatically.
- Flexibility and pragmatism to solve problems efficiently.
