Overview
The role involves delivering high quality dental care to adults and children with additional needs, providing urgent dental care for those unable to access treatment with a general dental practitioner, and supporting clinical leadership within the service.
Location
Based in Torbay & South Devon Community Dental Service, the position is based in the English Riviera, encompassing Brixham, Paignton and Torquay, with easy access to Devon’s attractions.
Responsibilities
- Provide dental treatment to adults and children with special needs, using local anaesthetic with or without sedation (both inhalation and IV) and general anaesthesia where appropriate.
- Deliver urgent dental care, including extractions and permanent restorations, for patients unable to receive treatment through the General Dental Service.
- Maintain comprehensive, contemporaneous records of all clinical practice.
- Demonstrate, uphold and further develop the vision, mission and agreed values of the service.
- Support the dental team through clinical leadership and management, providing advice on legislative and financial frameworks.
- Take additional responsibilities within the service in accordance with Terms & Conditions for Salaried Primary Dental Care Services (England), January 2008 and any later amendments.
Qualifications
- BDS or equivalent, with full registration with the GDC.
- Required GDC performer number and full registration on NHS England’s National Primary Care Performers List.
- Postgraduate qualifications relevant to community dentistry and/or sedation/GA experience.
- Broad clinical experience, including community dentistry and either sedation or general anaesthesia.
Salary
£54,502 – £81,753 per annum, pro rata (full range of treatment for adults and children whose special needs have prevented them from accessing dental care through the General Dental Service).
