We are recruiting for a Data Governance Lead on behalf of a well‑respected Lloyd’s Marker Insurer.
The successful candidate will lead data governance initiatives and activities across the organisation, taking ownership of data quality, security, and compliance at a strategic level. This is a role for a high performer who is ready to establish a lasting legacy.
Key Responsibilities
- Identifying and appointing Data Owners and Stewards.
- Drafting and maintaining robust data policies and data contracts.
- Leading Data Quality projects, defining critical data elements (CDEs) and establishing monitoring, reporting, and remediation processes.
- Leading the Data Governance meetings with business stakeholders.
- Acting as the primary point of contact for data governance matters and data‑related audits and regulatory inquiries.
- Producing regular Data Governance maturity assessments and Data Quality reports for senior leadership, including defining and tracking KPIs to measure the success of data governance programmes.
- Leading the implementation and maintenance of a data catalogue, business glossary, lineage maps, and metadata management workflows, including master data management (MDM) and data lifecycle management, to improve data discoverability and governance consistency.
- Acting as the product owner of Data Governance tech stack and Data Quality tools.
- Designing an end‑to‑end tailored Data Governance Framework.
- Developing and implementing frameworks for AI Governance.
Key Requirements
- High‑performing individual with hands‑on experience of data governance practices.
- Experience of selection, implementation and maintenance of data catalogue and data‑quality tools, with proficiency across Data Governance and Data Quality platforms more broadly.
- Track record of establishing and scaling Data Governance and Data Quality frameworks from scratch.
- Exceptional communication skills with the ability to influence senior leadership and technical teams alike.
- Experience within the Lloyd’s Market with an understanding of specific data challenges and regulatory landscape.
- Hands‑on experience (or a deep theoretical understanding) of AI Governance, including the risks associated with LLMs and automated decision‑making.
- Bachelor’s degree in data management, Law, or a related field, with professional certifications such as CDMP, CIPP/E, or DCAM highly desirable.
