  • Support the design team lead or project manager on larger projects, including technical design checks and reviews.
  • Act as design lead on smaller or less complex projects, managing discipline inputs, programme and commercial performance and escalating risks.
  • Identify, assess and mitigate risks within workstreams to produce safe, compliant and buildable designs.
  • Coordinate with multi‑disciplinary teams and key stakeholders, maintaining effective communication from concept to construction.
  • Contribute to project meetings, workshops and reviews, providing clear technical input and progressing actions.
  • Support development of junior engineers and technicians, offering guidance and checking work.
  • Contribute to bid and tender activities, including technical scope definition, methodology input and electrical estimating.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Experience of feasibility, design, installation, maintenance or technical assurance services in EV or wider transport (road/rail) sectors.
  • Ownership of work packages with responsibility for technical quality, programme and cost performance.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team with growing confidence in leading smaller projects.
  • Clear and effective communication skills, engaging with internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Experience in multi‑disciplinary coordination and design integration.
  • Progressing or recently achieved Engineering Council registration (IEng or CEng) and active membership of a relevant professional institution.
  • Holding of City & Guilds 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (C&G 2382).

Benefits

  • Hybrid working – flexibility to work from home up to two days a week with opportunities to collaborate in modern UK offices.
  • Professional development – support for CPD, industry events, and mentorship.
  • Professional memberships – support for IET or equivalent and further Engineering Council registration.
  • Comprehensive health & wellbeing programme including virtual GP service, flexible GP access, reasonable workplace adjustments and menopause support.
  • Flexible leave options – WSP My Hour, part‑time arrangements, additional leave purchase and bank holiday utilisation.
  • Gymflex scheme – up to 40 % discount on gym memberships.
