Role Summary
Fully remote, this Senior Software Engineer on the Core team (part of the Order Engineering group) owns key components of Olo’s platform such as baskets, orders, checkout, promotions, and capacity management. You will shape future systems, guide technical decisions, improve reliability and scalability, contribute hands‑on code, and mentor other engineers.
Responsibilities
- Exhibit mastery of Core‑team domain, lead design and architecture of complex systems, and influence technical strategy.
- Own delivery of large‑scale features and projects, coordinating across multiple teams to align with business objectives.
- Provide mentorship and technical leadership to junior and senior engineers, fostering continuous improvement.
- Collaborate closely with Product, Design, and stakeholders to shape requirements and make architecture and technical decisions that balance quality, performance, and delivery timelines.
- Implement high‑quality, resilient, and scalable distributed systems, incorporating resilience mechanisms and best practices.
- Lead troubleshooting and incident management, addressing critical production issues and enhancing system reliability.
- Advocate for and implement improvements in development practices, such as enhancing CI/CD processes, optimizing infrastructure as code, and increasing test automation coverage.
- Coordinate and lead cross‑team technical initiatives, ensuring consistency and integration between services and platforms.
- Stay ahead of emerging technologies and trends, evaluating new tools to enhance team capabilities.
- Demonstrate ownership of the team’s delivery pipeline, continuously optimizing code quality, testing standards, and deployment practices.
- Utilize Claude Code and GitHub Copilot extensively as part of daily workflow and participate in AI training to improve coding efficiency.
- Actively participate in on‑call duties as determined by the team and area of expertise.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
- 8+ years of software engineering experience.
- Advanced proficiency in C#/.NET with a record of designing and implementing large‑scale, complex systems.
- Deep understanding of architectural principles and patterns for distributed systems (e.g., microservices, event‑driven architecture with Kafka).
- Expertise in resilience mechanisms and performance tuning to ensure system stability and efficiency at scale.
- Proficiency in managing cloud infrastructure and services (e.g., AWS, Kubernetes/EKS) and implementing DevOps best practices using CI/CD tools like GitHub Actions, Octopus Deploy, and Terraform.
- Strong leadership and cross‑team collaboration skills, with the ability to influence and guide technical efforts across multiple teams.
