Senior Infrastructure Design Engineer – York 808

Reporting to: Technical Services Manager

Salary: up to £40,000/£45,000

Education – preferred IT education

Key Functions of Role

To act as a Technical Consultant in a range of technologies, providing design, delivery and support to customers and our hosted and managed services.

Duties

• Technical consultancy and implementation work, on customer sites, for managed services and for hosted services.
• Assisting Sales staff in identifying and qualifying opportunities.
• Technical design of customer requirements.
• Creating high and low level technical documentation for customer consultancy engagements.
• 3rd line technical support for relevant services.
• Maintain qualifications in a core set of IT products

Responsibilities

To comply with all company policy, procedures and other instructions as may from time to time be issued including Health, Safety, Environmental, Security and HR documentation.

Skills

• Extensive knowledge in a broad range of infrastructure technologies including server technologies, networking, virtualisation, firewalls and security technologies.
• Should hold or have held a professional IT qualification e.g. MCSE, VCP or CCNP
• Minimum 3 years experience in a 2nd/3rd line/consultancy role
• Ability to understand complex technical concepts
• Ability to learn and absorb new skills and technologies
• Strong customer facing skills
• Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
• Able to create high quality technical documentation
