SS7 Monitoring Specialist

Vodafone seeks a Cyber Defender to support the Cyber Defence Operations Centre of Excellence (CDO) in protecting our customers against global cyber risk.

What You’ll Do

• Lead operational cybersecurity for Vodafone, delivering defensive capabilities across the organization.
• Monitor, analyse, detect, and respond to signalling security events across SS7, Diameter, and GTP‑C.
• Investigate complex signalling incidents, performing deep protocol analysis and advanced analytics.
• Maintain and improve Cyber Defence playbooks, dashboards, and operational processes.
• Develop and integrate Signalling Intrusion Detection Systems (SigIDS) and Signalling Firewalls.
• Analyse emerging signalling attack techniques and translate findings into detection logic.
• Communicate findings to stakeholders, including CERT, Incident Management, and regulatory bodies.
• Collaborate with Network Engineering to influence signalling security policy and controls.

Qualifications

• Strong willingness to learn and adapt to new tools, technologies and emerging signalling threats.
• Hands‑on experience in telecom signalling protocols (SS7, Diameter, GTP‑C) or willingness to quickly develop expertise.
• Experience in a Cyber Defence or SOC environment, including incident triage and escalation.
• Analytical ability to work with large telemetry datasets.
• Experience with security analytics platforms such as Dynatrace, Splunk, Google SecOps, or Tableau.
• Understanding of telemetry pipelines, log enrichment, and data quality (e.g., Syslog, Cribl).
• Excellent communication skills to articulate complex technical findings.
• Bachelor’s degree in cyber security, IT, telecommunications engineering, or comparable experience.
• Relevant professional certifications (e.g., GCIA, GNFA, Splunk, cloud security) are a plus.
• Eligibility for UK government security clearance.
