Overview
Valleywood Care, a family‑run domiciliary care provider in Crewe, Willaston and Nantwich, is recruiting apprentices for an Adult Care Worker (Level 2) apprenticeship.
Apprenticeship Details
Hours: Monday – Friday, 9:00 am – 3:00 pm (alternate weekends may be required, time off will be granted in lieu).
Workload: 30 hours a week.
Duration: 1 year.
Training
Apprentices will receive in‑house training and study with Cheshire College – South & West to complete a Level 2 in Adult Care. Key training areas include:
- National standards, policies, and procedures for adult social care.
- Health and safety, human rights, and equity, diversity & inclusion in care settings.
- Person‑centred, co‑produced approach to care and support.
- Risk assessment, positive risk‑taking, and conflict management.
- Effective medication administration as authorised.
- Digital working and new care technologies.
- Recording and reporting changes in physical and mental capacity.
- Developing personal resilience and wellbeing.
Responsibilities
- Personal care: bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility support.
- Symptom management: monitoring pain, fatigue, nausea, and other symptoms; reporting changes.
- Medication support: administering prescribed medications when authorised.
- Emotional and psychological support: offering compassionate care and, where appropriate, counselling.
- Care planning and coordination with healthcare professionals.
- Daily living support: preparing meals, shopping, household tasks, and recreational activities.
- Advocacy and empowerment of patients in decision‑making.
- Record keeping: accurate and up‑to‑date patient observations and interventions.
- Bereavement care: supporting families after a patient’s death.

GCSE in:
- English
- Mathematics
