Role Summary

The Microsoft Data Center Inventory & Asset Technician Manager (DIAM) leads a team of Inventory & Asset Management technicians, overseeing inbound and outbound logistics, inventory cycle audits, data center regulatory compliance, warranty processes, and data bearing device (DBD) destruction activities.

Responsibilities

  • Guide employees to run warranty processes and execute DBD destruction while ensuring compliance with security and privacy requirements.
  • Model leadership principles, empower and coach the team, and foster a positive and effective team culture.
  • Ensure day‑to‑day operations run smoothly, assessing resource and workflow patterns to meet timelines.
  • Plan, manage, and communicate end‑to‑end project plans with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Document, track, discuss, and resolve all issues with consistent and complete communication.
  • Coordinate relationships with third‑party vendors for DBD destruction, ensuring no customer information remains and all destruction is compliant.
  • Comply with established methodologies and approaches to execute contracts and purchase orders.
  • Process procurement requests for servers, network, SAN, and spare requirements in support of Microsoft management.
  • Provide thought leadership on methodologies and monitor outcomes.
  • Serve as a subject‑matter expert and train junior team members on compliance.
  • Conduct daily safety briefings, complete required safety training, and guide technicians to follow safety procedures (PPE usage, rack moving, heavy equipment, lifting, ladder/rolling stair use).
  • Identify opportunities to simplify and automate workstreams, services, and processes.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma plus experience in asset management, inventory management, warehouse operations, logistics, supply chain, or a related field.
  • Experience receiving, tracking, storing, issuing, and auditing IT equipment and assets; maintaining accurate inventory records and ensuring compliance with operational processes.
  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer, and/or government security screening requirements, including the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in datacenters.
  • Project management experience.
  • Certifications: American Production and Inventory Control Society (APICS)/Association for Supply Chain Management (ASCM), International Association of Information Technology Asset Managers (IAITAM), Inventory Control, or equivalent.

Compensation

Typical base pay range for this role in the United Kingdom: £40,000.00 – £68,400.00 per year. Certain roles may be eligible for additional benefits and other compensation.
