The Reliability Maintenance Engineering (RME) team at Amazon is fundamental to our operations – they keep vital machinery running at all times. As an RME Technician you maintain a wide range of equipment and workspaces while upholding Health and Safety best practices. You help keep colleagues safe and prevent machine downtime, boosting availability and quality of equipment and enhancing the operational environment.
Key job responsibilities
- Proactive and preventative maintenance tasks on a wide range of site equipment
- Carry out reactive repairs and fault diagnosis in a live distribution warehouse
- Use the latest tools to maximise equipment effectiveness
- Uphold all health and safety policies and practices
- Support the development and progression of on‑site apprentices
- Work on continuous improvement projects and roll out best practices across a range of EU sites
A day in the life
Our RME Technicians are based on‑site, allowing quick response to any machinery issues. You will carry out planned preventative maintenance on the site’s equipment to keep it safe and running. As a Technician you will also respond promptly to breakdowns, investigating, finding, and implementing solutions as quickly as possible, and make suggestions for long‑term improvements.
Working alongside senior colleagues, you will undertake day‑to‑day maintenance tasks and liaise with contractors when external expertise is needed. You will work a range of shifts to support the site around the clock, enabling Amazon to deliver at the speed we are known for.
About the team
The RME team keeps equipment performing at its best. We are a technically minded group of excellent team players guided by experienced leaders. We maintain, troubleshoot and repair equipment across Amazon’s fulfilment centres and handle most aspects of the company’s technical side, including building compliance and operational efficiency. The role offers many progression opportunities both within RME and across Amazon.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- High school or equivalent diploma
- NVQ Level 3 / SVQ Level 3 / IVQ Level 3 / City & Guilds Level 3 / EAL Level 3 specialized in Mechanical, Electrical or Mechatronics
- Work a flexible schedule/shift/work area, including weekends, nights, and/or holidays
- Served a full Engineering indentured apprenticeship and/or qualified to a minimum NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in a relevant Engineering subject
- Relevant experience as a qualified engineer
- Relevant experience working in mechanical and/or electrical maintenance
- Advanced proficiency in the local language verbally and in writing
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Associate’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical
- Experience with material handling equipment (MHE) safety standards and original equipment manufacturer (OEM) safety standards
- Experience with robotic operation and maintenance
