Combined Small Works Manager & Buyer (R4)nnWe are seeking an organised and proactive Small Works Manager & Buyer to oversee small works projects while managing procurement activities across both small works and main projects.nnThis role is ideal for someone with strong coordination and problem-solving skills who can build and maintain excellent relationships with clients, engineers, and suppliers. You will play a key role in ensuring projects run smoothly by managing electrical works and sourcing materials efficiently and cost-effectively, all while upholding high standards of quality and service.nnKey Responsibilities – Small WorksnnOversee small works projects, maintenance, and remedial works for domestic and commercial clients (typically £250+), with an annual turnover of approximately £400knnAct as the primary point of contact for small works clients, managing requirements, expectations, and communication throughout the project lifecyclennManage incoming calls and emails while planning, scheduling, and coordinating multiple small-scale electrical tasks simultaneouslynnHandle reactive maintenance issues and daytime emergency callouts (e.g. power loss), including basic client guidance on fault finding (e.g.
tripped RCBOs)nnPrepare pricing for small works, remedial tasks, EICRs, and installation projectsnnConduct site surveys for larger small works packages to produce accurate and competitive quotationsnnMonitor and manage the performance of small works engineers to ensure high-quality workmanshipnnEnsure all works comply with health & safety regulations and NICEIC certification standardsnnManage claims, invoicing, and notify accounts when works are ready for billingnnRaise job numbers for both small works and main projectsnnMaintain and regularly update the main works job chart for accurate trackingnnUnderstand engineer capabilities to allocate work effectively based on strengths and experiencennLog NICEIC Building Control Notifications via the NICEIC portal following certificationnnSupport engineers requiring reactive maintenance or callout assistance on wider projectsnnKey Responsibilities – Buyer & ProcurementnnOrder materials and equipment for small works and support main project procurementnnSend site requisitions to wholesalers, carry out price comparisons, and place ordersnnConvert engineer material requests into purchase orders and issue to suppliersnnEnsure timely delivery of materials to maintain site productivity and avoid delaysnnManage supplier relationships, negotiate pricing, and ensure reliable servicennIdentify and onboard new suppliers to strengthen the supply chainnnCarry out occasional store duties, including receiving deliveries and labelling stocknnArrange repairs, servicing, and calibration of test equipment and toolsnnOrganise plant hire and access equipment as requirednnOccasionally collect and deliver materials to sites when necessarynnQualifications & KnowledgennProficiency in Microsoft Office 365, particularly ExcelnnGood understanding of construction and electrical environmentsnnRelevant qualifications in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related fieldnnStrong organisational ability, with experience managing multiple small works projects alongside procurement responsibilitiesnnNICEIC Qualifying Manager status or C&G 2391 (advantageous)nnWillingness to progress into the role of NICEIC Qualifying Supervisor for small works certification sign-offnnFull UK driving licencennWhat We OffernnCompetitive salarynnOpportunities for professional development and career progressionnnSupportive and collaborative working environmentnnExposure to a diverse portfolio of commercial and industrial projectsnnCompany van or car allowancenn24 days holiday plus bank holidays
