Job Description:

Family Support Worker – London & South East Team

We are looking to appoint a Family Support Worker on a full‑time basis (35 hours, 5 days per week) to deliver a high‑quality family support service to families in the local area at a time when they need it most.

Responsibilities

  • Provide needs‑led emotional, social and practical support to families whose child or young person has a life‑threatening or terminal illness.
  • Manage your own schedule and remain flexible to meet the changing needs of the families on your caseload.
  • Build supportive relationships, offer bereavement support and help families cope with grief, loss and change.
  • Work collaboratively with the family support team, volunteers and other professionals (health, education, social care) to deliver a high‑quality service.
  • Support fundraising colleagues by writing case studies and family updates where appropriate.
  • Practice child protection, information sharing and data protection principles, and work within established guidelines.
  • Use information technology confidently (including MS Office) to maintain accurate records and reports.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Experience as a child health, education or social care professional, preferably in a community environment.
  • Recognised qualification in education, health or social care.
  • Knowledge of child protection, information sharing and data protection procedures.
  • Empathetic, open communicator who can work well within a team.
  • Full current driver’s licence and an enhanced DBS disclosure.
