Overview

We’re looking for someone with solid experience supporting children or young people with SEMH and SEN needs, particularly those who can present with challenging behaviour. The students you’ll be working with need consistency, patience and someone who doesn’t take the difficult days personally.

Key Responsibilities

You’ll need to be confident managing challenging situations, knowing when to stand your ground and when to take a different approach. We need someone who has genuinely supported young people with additional needs and can stay calm when things don’t quite go to plan. Every day is different, and being able to think on your feet is a big part of the role.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Strong experience supporting pupils with SEMH and/or SEN.
  • A proven background managing challenging behaviour.
  • A calm, resilient and patient approach.
  • The confidence to build positive relationships while maintaining clear boundaries.
  • Experience working in schools, alternative provisions, specialist settings or similar environments.

Benefits

This is a full‑time position starting in September, with the opportunity to become permanent for the right person. All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. You will also receive free child protection and prevent duty training, and a DBS check will be provided.
