About the Role
Turn Furlong (Kingsthorpe, Northampton) provides an integrated health and social care service for individuals requiring short-term support following discharge from hospital. Our Recovering Independence Bed unit is delivered by a multidisciplinary team from both health and social care, working together to provide high-quality, person‑centred care. The team supports individuals through clinical care, rehabilitation, and reablement, helping them regain independence in a safe and supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate your team throughout each shift, ensuring workloads are organised, priorities are clear, and challenges are resolved quickly.
- Act as the go‑to person on shift – make decisions, support colleagues, and keep operations running smoothly.
- Deliver practical, personal and emotional care, ensuring each resident receives support tailored to their individual needs and care plans.
- Administer medication safely, maintain accurate records, update care plans, and contribute to reviews.
- Act as key worker, helping residents access services and support, promoting independence and wellbeing.
- Ensure a safe, positive environment by following health, safety and safeguarding practices, maintaining high standards of care.
- Demonstrate kindness, compassion and professionalism, working as part of a team to create a calm, safe environment.
36 hours per week, working 3 x 12‑hour night shifts (7:30pm–8:00am), including alternate weekend working.
Qualifications and Experience
- Previous experience in adult health or social care, with an understanding of safeguarding, health and safety, and current care standards.
- NVQ Level 2 in Health & Social Care (or equivalent) preferred; confident working flexibly across a range of shifts.
- Experience administering and managing medication within a residential or dementia care setting is desirable; working towards NVQ Level 3 is a plus.
Legal and DBS
This role is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and therefore requires an enhanced DBS certificate, which will be provided at no cost to the employee. West Northamptonshire Council is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
Unfortunately, this role does not meet the legal requirements for visa sponsorship under the Skilled Worker route.
