West Sussex Fire & Rescue Service is looking for a detail-oriented and highly organised Fleet Support Assistant to join our team.

You will support the day to day operation of our fleet by maintaining accurate records, processing financial information, coordinating with a range of stakeholders, and helping to ensure our vehicles remain safe and compliant, and ready to serve the community.
Salary: £26,403 to £26,824 per annum, £15,699 to £15,949 (pro rata for part time)
Contract Type: Permanent
Working Pattern: Part-time (22 hours per week)
Location: Power Place, 2 Terminus Rd, Chichester PO19 8UE

Regular attendance at your base location will be necessary, and there will be opportunities for remote work. Final arrangements will be confirmed with the successful candidate.

About the Job
No two days in our Fleet Resource and Support Team are the same! In this varied and fast-paced role, you will help ensure the effective and efficient provision of information, data, equipment, and resources.
You will also support the Team Leader in delivering a high quality, responsive county fleet management service, contributing to the smooth running of operations across the organisation.
Responsibilities
- Ensuring all County and Fire & Rescue Service vehicles are fully compliant with legal requirements, including registration, insurance, and vehicle tax.
- Manage and maintain accurate documentation to support ongoing compliance and audit readiness.
- Administer and coordinate all legal documentation relating to speeding fines, parking penalties, and vehicle related incidents.
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, including WSCC clients, framework providers, insurance companies, and other partner organisations.
- Maintain accurate, secure, and confidential administrative records across both manual and computerised systems, in line with organisational policies and data protection requirements.

Required Qualifications and Skills
- Knowledge of fleet management operations, including relevant systems, procedures, and policies.
- Strong IT skills, with experience using a range of software (advanced Excel skills are essential).
- NVQ Level 3 qualification (or equivalent experience).
- Good understanding of relevant legal procedures.
- A full, valid UK driving licence.
- Excellent literacy and numeracy skills, with the ability to interpret written instructions and accurately check financial data and documents.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, enabling you to provide clear and concise advice to a range of stakeholders.
- The ability to analyse and interpret information, producing high quality documents with minimal supervision.
- A collaborative approach, with the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
