Overview

We are recruiting Emergency Medical Technician apprentices for 2027 in the Barrow sector. The apprenticeship will be based in local ambulance stations, and placement will be as close to your home address as possible.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Work alongside EMT staff and paramedics to initiate and deliver appropriate care and effective treatment to patients in a pre‑hospital environment.
  • Apply skills and knowledge to safely provide patient care within the scope of practice for the role.

Apprenticeship & Employment Details

The apprenticeship lasts two years. Starting salary is £25,272 (Band 4 NHS training rate). Upon completion you will be eligible to move onto a full Emergency Medical Technician contract with a Band 4 salary ranging from £28,392 to £31,157 per annum plus appropriate unsocial hour’s payment under section 2 for Agenda for Change terms and conditions.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Must hold a C1 provisional driving licence.
  • Must provide all required qualifications prior to shortlisting.
  • Visa sponsorship is not possible for this role; applicants must be legally able to work in the UK.

Preferred locations are listed on the sector preference form. The advert is scheduled to close on 20 Jul 2026 or sooner if sufficient applications are received. Shortlisting will be completed by 27 Jul 2026. Interviews will take place on 8th, 9th, 15th, 16th, 22nd and 23rd Aug 2026, with a group assessment followed by an individual professional discussion. Driving assessments will be held from 24 Aug 2026. Applicants who received a conditional offer in the last six months need not apply.
