Job Title: Technical Programme Manager – Price & Promotions (“Stop the Errors”)

Contract: 3 months

Location: London (Hybrid – Paddington)

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Technical Programme Manager to provide short‑term contract cover for a critical Price & Promotions programme within a large‑scale retail technology environment. This role is required to maintain delivery momentum while a permanent TPM joins the business in June.

The programme is already in flight, with a renewed strategic focus on the “Stop the Errors” initiative – a key priority aimed at addressing master data inconsistencies across pricing, promotions, and in‑store systems. These inconsistencies directly impact customer experience, operational efficiency, and commercial performance.

This contract is suited to a hands‑on TPM who can quickly take ownership of an existing programme, stabilise governance, and act as a delivery lead across multiple teams and delivery partners.

Context & Purpose

  • Programme is mid‑delivery, requiring continuity and strong coordination
  • Short‑term coverage needed until permanent TPM starts
  • Focus increasingly shifting to the “Stop the Errors” workstream
  • Initiative targets root‑cause issues across pricing data, promotions, and store execution systems
  • High visibility programme with cross‑functional dependencies

Key Responsibilities

  • Programme Ownership & Delivery Leadership
    • Take end‑to‑end ownership of the existing Price & Promotions programme, ensuring continuity of delivery during the transition period
    • Act as the primary delivery lead, maintaining pace and accountability across workstreams
    • Step in hands‑on where TPM or BA resources are rolling off, ensuring no gaps in execution
  • Governance & Coordination
    • Maintain and lead programme governance across:
      • Internal Data teams
      • FIT (Food IT) teams
      • TCS delivery partners
    • Ensure clear delivery cadence, reporting, and decision‑making forums are in place
    • Track progress against milestones, dependencies, risks, and issues
  • “Stop the Errors” Initiative
    • Help shape, structure, and manage the emerging “Stop the Errors” workstream
    • Drive clarity around scope, priorities, and ownership across technical and business teams
    • Coordinate efforts to address master data inconsistencies between:
      • Core pricing systems
      • Promotions platforms
      • In‑store execution and POS systems
    • Stakeholder & Partner Management
    • Work closely with Product, Data, Engineering, and Business stakeholders to align delivery outcomes
    • Manage third‑party delivery partners (TCS), ensuring commitments are met and issues escalated appropriately
    • Provide clear, concise updates to senior stakeholders on progress, risks, and mitigations
  • Delivery Fundamentals
    • Reinforce strong delivery fundamentals across teams: planning and sequencing, dependency management, risk and issue escalation, change impact assessment
    • Ensure deliverables are ready for downstream testing, release, and operational handover

Experience & Skills Required

  • Proven experience as a Technical Programme Manager, Senior Delivery Lead, or equivalent
  • Strong background delivering complex, cross‑functional technology programmes
  • Experience working within data‑heavy environments, ideally involving pricing, promotions, or master data
  • Confident working with multiple delivery teams and external partners
  • Strong governance, planning, and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to operate effectively in in‑flight programmes, quickly building context and driving outcomes
  • Comfortable in agile or hybrid delivery environments

Why This Role?

  • Short‑term, high‑impact assignment with clear objectives
  • Opportunity to stabilise and shape a critical initiative with direct customer and commercial impact
  • Highly collaborative role with visibility across technology, data, and business teams
