Purchasing Manager

THE ROLE

• As Procurement Manager, you will oversee a small team of buyers, setting the strategic approach for end‑to‑end management of the flow of goods, from sourcing raw materials and finished products to delivery.
• You’ll develop supplier relationships, negotiate contracts, monitor stock and the performance of each product purchased.
• You will identify market trends, assess cost savings, set payment terms and rebates, onboard new suppliers where better deals can be had, support ethical sourcing initiatives and lead and develop your purchasing team.
• You will monitor inventory levels and coordinate stock replenishments, liaising with colleagues in operations, production, sales and finance to forecast purchasing requirements.
• You will minimise supply chain disruption risks.

THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE

• Good negotiator, commercially aware, analytical, organised with strong people‑management skills.
• Strong understanding of supply‑chain and inventory management with significant experience with suppliers in the construction/building industry, manufacturing, roofing or industrial sectors.
• CIPS qualification preferred; multilingual skills advantageous when negotiating with European suppliers.
• Experience with ERP/MRP purchasing systems ideal.

THE COMPANY

• A family‑owned manufacturer and supplier of building materials including timber, rooflights, fixings, drainage, roofing, rainwater goods, composite panels and steel sections, with a multi‑million‑pound turnover and expansion plans.

THE REMUNERATION

• £40,000‑£45,000 basic salary (dependent on experience).
• Bonus scheme potentially in the thousands, dependent on cost savings and efficiency targets.
• Pension.
• Pathway to a Senior Leadership role.
