Estimator / Project Manager – Garden Landscaping

Company: Hammersmith and Chiswick Landscapes
Apply for the Estimator / Project Manager – Garden Landscaping
Location: Chiswick
Job Description:

Hammersmith & Chiswick Landscapes (HCL) is a high-end garden design, build, and maintenance company based in Chiswick, West London. We work closely with leading garden designers to deliver complex, high-specification landscaping projects across London. Our team of experienced landscapers and horticulturalists is known for exceptional craftsmanship and close attention to detail, in a working environment that’s progressive, knowledgeable, and genuinely supportive.

We’re looking for an Estimator/Project Manager to join HCL on a full-time, on-site basis, based in Chiswick, West London.

This role combines cost estimating with hands‑on project management. You’ll prepare detailed cost estimates for garden design and landscaping projects — analysing drawings, specifications, and site information to produce accurate quantity take-offs, budgets, and cost plans for both proposals and live projects. You’ll obtain supplier and subcontractor quotations, track actual costs against estimates, and support cost control throughout the project lifecycle.

Alongside this, you’ll manage projects on site from start to finish — leading your own site team, coordinating subcontractors and suppliers, keeping work on programme and on budget, and acting as the main point of contact for designers and clients for your projects. You’ll be comfortable managing people as well as relationships — your own team, site subcontractors, clients, and high‑end garden designers alike — and confident communicating clearly with all parties throughout a project.

Qualifications

  • Garden landscaping experience is essential — ideally with a background as a Site Foreman or similar hands‑on site leadership role
  • Strong construction estimating skills, with experience preparing detailed estimates for landscaping or construction projects
  • Proven experience managing projects on site, including leading a team and coordinating subcontractors, suppliers, and programme
  • Proficiency in quantity take-offs and cost management, with the ability to interpret drawings, specifications, and site conditions
  • Experience with budgeting and financial planning, including monitoring costs against budgets
  • Strong people management skills, with confidence managing your own team as well as site subcontractors, clients, and designers
  • Familiarity with estimating software, spreadsheets, and project management tools
  • Prior work on high‑specification or bespoke garden projects is a strong advantage
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work to deadlines in a fast‑paced environment
  • Formal training or qualifications in construction management, quantity surveying, or a related field are beneficial.
