Job overview

This is a chance to join a rapidly changing and expanding Procurement team, the largest Procurement team in the NHS – at a forward‑thinking NHS Foundation Trust. As a member of the P2P Systems & Development Team, the holder will provide highly effective, efficient and technical support to the Helpdesk & E‑Commerce Manager, utilising tools such as the MFT Finance & Procurement System, Integra, Manage Service Engine and trust‑wide financial reporting systems.

The postholder will support Trust end users and external stakeholders in accordance with current Procurement procedures, develop P2P help‑desk & e‑commerce functions, and liaise and negotiate with internal stakeholders at all levels.

Main duties of the job

  • Provide help‑desk support to Trust end users and external stakeholders, working closely with Scan 4 Safety, Accounts Payable and E‑Commerce to ensure correct procedures are followed.
  • Develop departmental strategies and adhere to national guidelines on carrier metrics, aiming to remove manual processes through automated technology.
  • Enhance operational efficiency and develop proactive processes for daily departmental operations, assisting senior management with service delivery.
  • Undertake any additional duties appropriate to the band as requested by senior colleagues, with reviews carried out in conjunction with the postholder.

Person specification

Qualifications

  • Good standard of education or equivalent experience.
  • Knowledge of procedures to NVQ level or equivalent.
  • Customer service experience.
  • Commitment to study to achieve membership and qualification (CIPS).

Experience

  • Experience in an office/team environment.
  • Experience of customer‑facing roles or equivalent.
  • Public or private sector procurement.
  • Analytics.

Skills/Knowledge

  • Good communication.
  • Effective organisational and interpersonal skills.
  • Good working knowledge of MS Excel.
  • Ability to work under own initiative.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft packages including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to manage and manipulate large volumes of data.
  • Understanding of NHS Procurement procedures.
  • Working knowledge of GHX and Integra platforms.
