Overview
Internal medicine internship at Lumbry Park Veterinary Specialists (Alton) starting February 2027 for a 12‑month, discipline‑specific placement ending January 2028.
Responsibilities
- Assist with inpatient care, consultations, student teaching, emergency management, and supervised primary‑care responsibilities.
- Perform diagnostic procedures such as arthrocentesis, feeding‑tube placement, endoscopy, and chemotherapy administration.
- Participate in medicine journal clubs and clinical research projects.
- Support the multidisciplinary referral team and contribute to the medical management of acute and chronic internal‑medicine and oncology patients.
Qualifications
- Prior completion of a rotating internship or a minimum of two years in small‑animal practice in the UK.
- Excellent written and spoken English skills.
- Right to work in the UK and current membership of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (MRCVS).
Working Hours & On‑call
Full‑time (40 hour week) with an expectation of a 1:4 weekend on‑call rota and one weekday night on‑call, both with senior clinician back‑up. The role also includes limited out‑of‑hours coverage for a total of three weeks of night shifts per year, with a full week off following each night‑shift week.
