The Opportunity

The role may suit an experienced marketer who has worked in a corporate, agency or professional services environment and is now looking for greater flexibility, purpose and ownership. You may be returning after a career break, building a portfolio career or looking to apply established experience within a smaller business where your contribution is visible.

You will be expected to bring informed recommendations, organise ideas into a practical plan and take responsibility for implementation. Pragmatic will retain responsibility for technical sales discussions, pricing, complex proposals and closing significant consultancy work.

You’ll help turn a respected consultancy into a recognised brand.

You’ll have the freedom to try new ideas, influence how we market ourselves and see the direct impact of your work on the growth of the business.

Purpose of the Role

This is a hands on role where you’ll shape the strategy, create the content and measure the results. that clearly presents what Pragmatic offers, builds a consistent presence across appropriate channels, generates and nurtures relevant leads.

Key Responsibilities

Build our Brand

  • Help define and package our consultancy, sustainability and training services.
  • Develop marketing campaigns that connect the right audience with the right offer.
  • Recommend how LinkedIn, Kartra, email, webinars and our website work together.

Create and manage content

  • Create engaging LinkedIn and other channels content, blogs, newsletters and case studies.
  • Turn meetings, workshops and client work into useful content.
  • Keep our website, courses and marketing materials up to date.
  • Manage community engagement across agreed channels.

Grow our Business

  • Create campaigns that generate enquiries.
  • Build downloadable resources, webinars and lead magnets.
  • Nurture leads and keep our pipeline organised.
  • Support proposals and marketing material that converts interest into work.
  • Monitor campaign performance and recommend improvements based on results.

What Success Looks Like

Within the first six months, the successful person will have:

  • Pragmatic has a clear and consistent marketing presence.
  • Qualified enquiries are being generated consistently through multiple channels.
  • A three month rolling marketing plan is in place and being delivered consistently.
  • We understand which marketing activities generate the greatest commercial value.

Skills and Attributes

Essential

The role requires:

  • Experience in marketing or communications.
  • Excellent written communication.
  • Experience creating digital content.
  • Commercial awareness and an interest in business growth.
  • Confidence managing multiple projects independently.
  • Experience using AI tools to improve productivity and content creation.

We’re looking for someone who enjoys taking ownership, turning ideas into action and making things happen.

You’ll be comfortable working independently, asking questions, challenging the status quo and suggesting better ways of doing things. You don’t need to know everything on day one, but you should enjoy learning, solving problems and seeing the commercial impact of your work.

Desirable

The following would be helpful but can be developed:

  • Experience in consultancy, professional services, energy, sustainability, compliance or another regulated sector.
  • Awareness of B Corp, responsible business or climate related themes.

Development and Progression

As Pragmatic grows, this role has the opportunity to grow with it. You’ll have the chance to take increasing ownership of our marketing strategy, campaigns, partnerships and brand development, with the potential to develop into a wider leadership role as the business expands.

Working Arrangements

  • 25 hours per week, with the working pattern agreed with the successful candidate.
  • Home based within the UK.
  • Salary of £20,000 to £23,000 per annum, depending on experience.
  • The role will report to the Director
  • Formal six month review, with future progression or performance related reward subject to contribution and business affordability.

Performance will be assessed through quality, consistency, qualified opportunities and pipeline contribution, not simply the number of posts produced.
