About the role

To work with service users who are both children and adults with physical disabilities, mental health needs and learning disabilities. Assess users with complex care needs, recommend equipment and or major adaptations to promote and improve independence. Conduct manual handling assessments to reduce risks to the user and carers. The role supports surrounding teams such as housing, social work and the adaptation team following the Occupational Therapist’s completion of robust reports detailing the housing, care and adaptation needs of residents.

About the team

You will be part of a supportive Adult Social Care team, working alongside Occupational Therapists, Sensory Technicians and a wide range of professionals across health and social care services. The team works collaboratively with internal colleagues and external partners, including NHS services, housing providers and voluntary organisations, to deliver coordinated care and support. This is a dynamic environment where teamwork, communication and a shared commitment to improving outcomes for residents are central to success.

About you

You will demonstrate Haringey values of being Caring, Collaborative, Community‑Focused, Courageous and Creative. You will be a qualified Occupational Therapist, registered with the Health Care Professions Council, and have a strong understanding of the relevant legislation (Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act 2005, Disabled Facilities Grant, Building Regulations – Part M, Children and Families Act 2014, MHRA guidance). You will possess excellent assessment skills to manage a caseload of adults and children of varied complexity, establish and maintain links with professionals from other services, commit to continued learning and professional development, support the smooth running of the team, and be familiar with the operation of an occupational‑therapy duty system including ad‑hoc visits where necessary. You will be able to complete robust assessments and support plans that are clinically reasoned and communicate clearly and concisely in written reports and risk assessments.
