Role Description

MWA Special Risks is seeking a Commercial Insurance Account Executive to join its growing team. This is a full‑time, hybrid role based in Sawbridgeworth, offering flexibility to work from home part‑time.

The Account Executive will be responsible for managing and developing a portfolio of commercial insurance clients, providing expert advice and delivering tailored insurance solutions aligned to each client’s needs. The role combines client relationship management, new business development, and strategic market placement, with responsibility for renewals, insurer negotiations, and overall client satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

Client Relationship & Portfolio Management

  • Manage and develop a portfolio of commercial insurance clients
  • Build and maintain strong, long‑term client relationships
  • Act as a trusted advisor, providing informed and professional risk advice
  • Ensure insurance programmes remain aligned to client needs and objectives

Business Development

  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities within target markets
  • Generate and manage new client relationships through networking and referrals
  • Support the continued growth of the business through proactive client engagement

Placing, Renewals & Insurer Negotiation

  • Lead the renewal and placement of commercial insurance programmes
  • Negotiate terms, conditions, and premiums with insurers and underwriters
  • Place a range of commercial risks, including complex and specialist exposures
  • Ensure competitive and appropriate cover solutions are secured

Service & Delivery

  • Deliver consistently high standards of customer service
  • Work closely with internal support teams to ensure efficient policy administration
  • Maintain accurate client records and ensure compliance with regulatory standards

Qualifications, Skills & Experience

Essential

  • Strong experience in commercial insurance account management
  • Proven ability to build and manage client relationships
  • Demonstrable sales capability, with experience identifying and converting new business opportunities
  • Comprehensive understanding of UK commercial insurance principles and practices
  • Proven experience placing:
  • Commercial Combined
  • Liability
  • Complex Property
  • Directors’ & Officers’ (D&O)
  • Professional Indemnity
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills
  • Self‑motivated, target‑driven, and comfortable working in a hybrid environment
  • Professional insurance qualifications (e.g. ACII )
