Manufacturing Team Leader — Derby — Permanent — £41,000 – £45,500 (inclusive of shift premium).
EMBS Engineering Ltd is working in partnership with a leading precision engineering manufacturer, located in Derby, that is currently seeking a Manufacturing Team Leader to join on a permanent basis. This market leader is a well-established entity within the precision engineering industries and supports globally recognised customers with safety-critical, highly complex components.

Responsibilities
Due to internal changes and continued success, the client is seeking an experienced Manufacturing Shift Team Leader to oversee late shift operations, ensuring productivity, EHS standards, and site security are maintained, and to provide strong leadership to the team.
- Manufacture forming and sheet metal components; read and understand data cards and drawings; set up machines with required tooling.
- Efficiently complete sheet metal and press brake operations according to job card instructions to achieve output levels.
- Carry out routine machine maintenance and manage work throughput to meet OTIF targets.
- Generate and review data to ensure planned times are accurate and team members complete work within the allocated time.
- Maintain an efficient system for tooling control, liaise with management on staffing and priorities, and distribute work based on scheduling lists.
- Conduct daily Hazard Spotting and work with the Manufacturing Engineer and Technical Lead to resolve quality issues.
- Oversee technical lead training for employees, conduct RTWs, absence reviews, and manage late shift holidays to ensure coverage.
- Collaborate with Human Resources to maintain an ethical working environment and apply problem-solving methodologies to improve operational performance.
Successful applicants must be able to demonstrate
- Strong leadership experience within a management, supervisory, team leader or lead capacity.
- Passion for personal development and a desire to progress your career.
- Experience leading a team in a target-driven environment with KPIs.
- A balance between leadership and hands-on skills, with a preference for fabrication (forming, sheet metal, welding) but openness to machining (CNC-focused).
- Familiarity with driving performance.
- Experience within a precision engineering or advanced manufacturing environment, manufacturing detailed components for industries such as Aerospace, Automotive, Motorsport, Defence, Nuclear, Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, Power, etc.
