Senior Data Science Manager – £100,000

****This role will require you to be in Southampton 2 days a month****

Data Science Manager, Leadership, Leading Data Science, Retail, Python, SQL, Roadmaps, Cloud Analytics, Southampton area.

You will be leading a Data Science team to deliver machine learning and advanced analytics solutions that improve customer insight, drive commercial decision‑making and enable personalisation across a retail organisation.

You will be able to challenge approaches, raise standards, coach technical talent and influence senior stakeholders across Customer, Digital, CRM, Loyalty, Retail Media, Finance, and Technology.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead, coach and develop a high‑performing Data Science team.
• Own and deliver the Data Science roadmap, prioritising work based on business value.
• Oversee the development and deployment of machine learning models, including churn, customer lifetime value, forecasting, segmentation and recommendation.
• Ensure solutions are scalable, robust, governed and production‑ready.
• Partner with business and technology stakeholders to translate commercial challenges into data‑driven solutions.
• Drive best practice in data science, model governance and technical delivery.
• Deliver measurable business value through the effective use of data science.

Skills & Experience:

• Proven experience leading Data Science teams in a commercial environment.
• Strong knowledge of machine learning, statistics, Python and SQL.
• Experience developing and deploying predictive models using customer and commercial data.
• Experience with cloud analytics platforms (e.g. Databricks, Snowflake or BigQuery).
• Strong stakeholder management, communication and leadership skills.
• Commercially focused with the ability to prioritise and deliver high‑impact outcomes.
