Senior Engineering Manager – Compliance

We are looking for a Senior Engineering Manager to lead the Compliance strategy for our product engineering team. In this role, you will oversee delivery, performance, and people management for our Compliance squads, composed of 8–15 engineers. You will ensure the safety and integrity of the product experience that hundreds of thousands of freelancers rely on.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and inspire a high‑performing team, directly managing 2–3 cross‑functional squads, and fostering a high‑trust environment where talent thrives.
• Co‑build product and technical strategy with the Product Director and Design Lead, translating complex regulatory requirements into a seamless user experience.
• Raise the bar on delivery and engineering excellence, owning the delivery lifecycle, setting and tracking KPIs for velocity and quality, and balancing rapid delivery with long‑term architectural health.
• Act as a knowledge multiplier by contributing to the Engineering Manager Guild to scale best practices and frameworks across the organization.
• Own our compliance ecosystem, serving as the primary technical point of contact for external partners such as PSPs and legal data providers to ensure smooth integration, operational reliability, and scalability.

About You

• Hands‑on Manager who maintains technical mentorship through code reviews and architecture discussions, with a strong backend foundation (ideally in Java or Kotlin).
• Systems Thinker who thrives in fast‑paced, evolving environments and excels at managing technical migrations or structural shifts without losing focus on the mission.
• Compliance Domain experience with a deep background in scaling compliance or fintech systems, understanding the constraints of high‑security environments.
• Strategic Risk Manager comfortable at the intersection of tech and regulation, making high‑impact decisions that protect the business while enabling product growth.
• Impactful Communicator fluent in English (French is a bonus) who distills complex technical or AI concepts into clear, actionable insights for stakeholders at any level.
• Technical Watcher who keeps an eye on emerging tech, especially around AI, and is eager to explore how it can help the team deliver more value faster.
