Role and responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive safeguarding checks
• Assess risk factors and identify welfare concerns early
• Provide clear, professional recommendations to courts
• Work directly with children and their families to gather insights and support
• Prepare detailed, accurate reports to inform court decisions
• Act as Children’s Guardian in public law cases
• Support families and professionals with practical advice on child arrangements in private law cases
• Contribute to the Child Focused Court Model, ensuring court proceedings centre on the child’s needs, voice, and experiences
• Manage sensitive, high-conflict cases professionally and effectively under pressure

Candidate requirements

• Recognised Social Work qualification
• Minimum of 3 years’ post-qualifying experience working with children and families
• Strong assessment, communication, and negotiation skills
• Proficiency in case management and IT systems
• Ability to handle complex, sensitive cases professionally
