Enterprise Architect – Manchester, Edinburgh, Leeds, Bristol, Halifax. Full‑time: 35 hours per week. Hybrid working style: at least two days per week in office.
Salary: £72,702 – £88,858. End date: Friday 17 July 2026.
Responsibilities
- Provide practical, engineering‑aligned technology leadership across modern digital capabilities, including agentic systems, large‑language models (LLMs), digital protocols, wallet technologies, digital assets, and emerging ecosystem models.
- Help teams turn complex concepts into deliverable outcomes.
- Bring strong ownership, integrity, and a collaborative mindset while working directly with cross‑functional teams sharing a clear purpose.
- Align with the most relevant area within Consumer & Digital Architecture based on technical depth, experience, and influence on future direction of digital platforms and customer propositions.
- Build, evolve, and promote clear and comprehensive technology strategies that align with Group strategy and enable business teams to deliver the best customer outcomes.
- Accountably influence, challenge and support relevant Platform teams to build and align their strategic roadmaps.
- Act as the voice of the customer, interface with all Business Platforms to enable delivery of business roadmaps, and guide product delivery.
- Build and sustain strong, productive partnerships with platforms, functions, third‑party vendors, and cloud service providers, acting as senior partner to help evolve products and services for large enterprise customers.
- Work in an agile environment on challenging problems, delivering results through collaboration and trust building.
Qualifications
- Hands‑on experience with advanced and emerging technologies such as GenAI, quantum, digital identity, digital protocols, wallet technologies, digital assets, and ecosystem models.
- Active research, experimentation, prototyping and evaluation of new capabilities to determine real‑world value, maturity and applicability to long‑term strategy.
- Open, collaborative, approachable, and friendly communication style with senior and junior engineering and product colleagues.
- Passion, energy and strong ownership driving an architecture portfolio with laser focus on delivering value to customers, clients and the wider business.
- Gravitas and impact, using compelling written and verbal storytelling to communicate architectural decisions, influence stakeholders, and align priorities.
- Proven background in enterprise or solution architecture and/or engineering, with solid understanding of architecture principles, frameworks and hands‑on technology practices.
- Strong understanding of modern digital technology spanning applications and infrastructure such as containerised microservices, private/public cloud, APIs, event‑driven patterns and platform engineering.
- Recent experience translating architecture into outcomes, converting roadmaps and models into actionable delivery portfolios that support organisational change, including large‑scale and strategic programmes.
- Broad technical knowledge across domain‑driven design, microservices, event‑driven architectures, hybrid cloud, modern cloud deployment models, service‑provider technologies, DevOps, CI/CD, modern data paradigms, cybersecurity, and resilience by design.
- Strong intuition for digital technology and its business value, enabling practical guidance for engineering and business teams.
- Deep understanding of modern software development, engineering practices, delivery cycles and technology processes – comfortable engaging directly with engineering teams across the CTO organisation.
- Strong communication and relationship‑building skills to collaborate effectively with product, engineering and business stakeholders in a pragmatic, delivery‑aligned way.
- Experience establishing or shaping effective governance, guardrails and architectural standards that support innovation, safe delivery and long‑term platform sustainability.
- Demonstrated ability to view challenges from multiple perspectives and translate them into solutions, detailed roadmaps, and actionable plans.
