Responsibilities
- Assess online applications from Manchester City Council residents and those being resettled into Manchester using policy and assessment criteria.
- Provide cash grants, fuel vouchers and furniture assistance as authorised.
- Ring customers to discuss their applications and ensure individual needs are met.
- Ask appropriate questions, explain information required, manage difficult conversations calmly, and ensure customers understand the outcome and next steps.
Qualifications
- Good attention to detail.
- Strong IT skills and ability to learn and apply guidance and procedures.
- Previous experience in a similar role, for example customer service within a financial setting, is desirable.
- Strong customer service and communication skills, engaging with customers in a sensitive, professional, and non‑judgemental way.
- Experience of assessing financial information (e.g., income, expenditure, savings, capital and other financial resources) and using that information to make accurate, evidence‑based decisions.
Relevant Clearances
- BPSS (Baseline Personnel Security Standard) clearance required.
- DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) clearance required.
