Senior Nuclear Medicine Technologist/Radiographer

We are looking for an experienced Radiographer or Technologist to work in our Nuclear Medicine department at the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton, for a fixed‑term 10‑month maternity cover contract. You will administer radiopharmaceuticals and perform Nuclear Medicine scans, including PET‑CT, in a state‑of‑the‑art department.

You will be supported by senior Technologists, Consultants, management and dedicated Physics and Admin staff.

You will be expected to have technical expertise and good clinical knowledge, respond to challenges and work cooperatively as part of a large MDT.

Main duties of the job

  • Assess patient referrals, manage care and safely prepare and administer radiopharmaceuticals.
  • Perform image processing and produce high‑quality results.
  • Supervise Technologists/radiographers and support staff as required.
  • Support the Chief Nuclear Medicine Technologist, PET‑CT Superintendent and Lead Superintendent.
  • Work within regulatory frameworks, local rules and SOPs, ensuring a safe working environment.
  • Work in all Nuclear Medicine departments, including weekend and evening duties.

Job responsibilities

  • Perform routine scanning, administration of radiopharmaceuticals and patient care.
  • Carry out tasks set by the Chief Technologist, PET‑CT Superintendent and senior technologists.

Person Specification

Applicants should meet the following qualifications and experience:

Qualifications

  • Detailed application form related to job description and person specifications.
  • HCPC (Health & Care Professionals Council) or RCT registered.

Experience

  • Understanding of risks associated with radioactive sources and CT to patients and staff.
  • Knowledge of general policies and procedures of a Nuclear Medicine department.
  • Previous experience of student mentorship.
  • Previous experience in a healthcare setting.
