Job Overview
Due to an internal promotion, we have a 12 month FTC available for a Risk and Controls Specialist to join MotoNovo Finance. We’re not looking for someone who simply follows the process; we’re looking for someone who asks why. Someone who’s naturally curious, digs deeper, spots what others miss, and isn’t afraid to challenge when something doesn’t feel right. Someone who genuinely cares about protecting customers, supporting the business, and making things better.
If you’re the type of person who can’t let a problem go unexplored, enjoys asking difficult questions, and takes pride in helping a business operate safely and effectively, we’d love to hear from you.
Key Responsibilities
As a Risk & Control Specialist, you’ll be a trusted partner to the business, helping us identify, assess, and manage non-financial risks while strengthening the control environment across MotoNovo Finance. You’ll work closely with colleagues across the first and second lines of defence, senior leaders, and subject matter experts, providing constructive challenge, practical guidance, and independent thinking.
Typical duties include:
- Investigating risk events, identifying root causes, and ensuring robust actions are in place.
- Facilitating risk workshops, presenting insights at governance forums, and challenging stakeholders on how risks and issues are being managed.
- Getting under the skin of issues, connecting the dots, and influencing positive outcomes.
Desired Qualities
- Restless curiosity and a tendency to ask great questions.
- Comfortable with investigating problems and getting to the root cause.
- Willing to challenge constructively, even when it’s not the popular view.
- Confidently engaging and influencing senior stakeholders.
- Proactive and able to work without constant direction.
- Passion for doing the right thing for customers and the business.
- Ability to bring people together, facilitate discussions, and drive actions forward.
- Resilience, pragmatism, and comfort navigating complex situations.
- Strong attention to detail while maintaining sight of the bigger picture.
Qualifications & Experience
- Experience within Risk, Controls, Compliance, or a similar governance-focused role.
- Strong Financial Services background (essential).
- Experience working with risk frameworks, controls, governance, and regulatory requirements (Consumer Duty).
- Confidence presenting to senior leaders, committees, and risk forums.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills across multiple business areas.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving capabilities.
- Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
- Motor Finance experience would be highly advantageous.
Benefits
- Competitive salary.
- Annual bonus.
- 10% employer contribution pension.
- Private medical with BUPA.
- 38 days holiday (incl. bank holidays).
Work Culture
A friendly and flexible culture, the same as how we work with our customers. A growing organisation that means there are lots of opportunities to progress. A drive for continuous improvement, which you will be empowered to support from day one.
Equal Opportunity Statement
We welcome people regardless of age, disability, gender identity, marital status, race, faith or belief, sexual orientation, socioeconomic background, and whether they are pregnant or on family leave. We are committed to building a working environment that values respect, diversity, and compassion.
Please note: We have a thorough screening and referencing process, which includes financial and criminal record checks.
