Position Overview
The post is a 12‑month whole time equivalent position at Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust and will be based at Wythenshawe Hospital. The post‑holder will work as a registrar (ST) level in the Department of Gastroenterology and will rotate in an equitable fashion with other members of the department.
Responsibilities
- Provide endoscopy services, including diagnostic and therapeutic modalities such as EUS, capsule endoscopy and tertiary ERCP.
- Participate in ward rounds and manage acute medical patients within the gastroenterology service.
- Attend and contribute to research activities, including studies and data collection.
- Be part of the General Medicine on‑call rota, acquiring practical acute medical skills.
- Collaborate with consultants and multidisciplinary teams (radiology, surgery, histopathology) to deliver comprehensive patient care.
Qualifications
- MRCP or equivalent qualification.
- Active registration and licence to practice with the GMC at the time of appointment. Non‑GMC registered candidates may be considered through the Trust’s International Fellowship Scheme (subject to a £500 admin charge).
- Experience managing gastroenterology patients.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills.
- Relevant training and evidence of a commitment to professional development.
Location & Rotation
Based at Wythenshawe Hospital, with an equitable rotation schedule within the Department of Gastroenterology.
